Abstract:
Since the first generation of the world's commercial nuclear power generating units, the equipment automation has been one of the key issues along with the continuous progress of nuclear power engineering technology, due to their special working conditions. The robotics is now widely applied in both the NPP industrial operation and the nuclear engineering related research to increase the automation and to guarantee the operating safety. After Fukushima nuclear disaster, more and more researchers focused on the robotics for the nuclear radiation detections and nuclear emergency management. This speech will give a brief report of the undergoing works in IFCEN related to the nuclear engineering monitoring, including: automatic mobile robot for monitoring maintenance, and organism monitoring underwater.
About the speaker:
Dr. LIU Yang is a Lecturer in IFCEN. He received his master degree from Harbin Institute of Technology. And he got his PhD degree in the National University of Singapore. Then He worked in the Singapore-MIT Alliance as a research fellow for three years. In 2012, Dr. LIU Yang joined IFCEN. Now he is working as a deputy-director of the research center of nuclear safety & emergency technologies, Sun Yat-sen University. His current research areas are: the robotics in the nuclear engineering, the automatic monitoring of nuclear radiation environment, and the micro-fluidics.
