Speaker: Professor Chen Jiaying

Working Experience:
Professor Chen Jiaying obtained his master degree from School of Foreign Philosophy of Peking University (1981), and he gained his PhD at Pennsylvania State University. He started his teaching career at Peking University in 1994. He then transferred to East China Normal University in 2002 and once performed as dean of the Philosophy Department there. In 2008, he transferred to Capital Normal University and taught at the Department of Philosophy since then. The main scope of his research includes phenomenology (especially Heidegger's philosophy), analytic philosophy (especially Wittgenstein’s philosophy), philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and moral philosophy. He published 17 books and wrote 17 monographs as the lead author. He is the translator for 12 books and the author for nearly 100 articles. His major translation works include Heidegger's Being and Time, Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations, and major books and works collection: Introduction to Heidegger's philosophy, Reasoning, and What is Good Lives.
